History of the periscope

Johannas Gutenberg invented the periscope in the 1430's for people to see over the crowds during the vigintennial religious festival at Aachen,Germany.

In 1854 Hippolyte Marie-Davy invented the first naval periscope, which used a vertical tube and two small mirrors at a 45-degree angle. Simon Lake used the periscope in his submarine and Sir Howard Grubb perfected the deceive in WW1 (1914-1918). In the Gallipoli campaign a solider used a periscope on top of a riffle. In France, these was a life-saving tool and troops also used these to seek out their trenches without putting their lives in danger.

From a simple deceive to see to a weapon of war, the periscope has been through alot
